Tariwala chicken is a Punjabi dish. Its name comes from the ‘tari,’ which refers to the yummy ‘gravy’ in which the chicken is cooked.

1- 500 gms chicken Curry Cut
2- 2 Large Onions finely chopped
3- 3 Small tomatoes finely chopped
4- Ginger garlic paste
5- Ginger julliens
6- 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
7- 2 green cardamoms
8- 2 bay leafs
9- 1 cinamon stick
10- 2 cloves
11- Red chilly powder
12- Turmeric Powder
13 Garam Masala
14 Coriander Powder
15- Fresh coriander leaves
1- Marinate the chicken with ginger garlic paste , red chilly powder , salt , lemon juice. Keep the marinated chicken for atleast 1 hr.
2- Heat a pan and add 4 tsp oil.
3- Once oil is hot add all the whole spices, onions, ginger garlic paste, and ginger julliens.
4- Cook until onions get soft and light brown.
5- Add tomatoes and cook it all together for 2- 4 mins on a medium flame.
6- Add 1/2 tsp turmeric powder, 3 tsp kashmiri chilly powder, 1.5 tsp coriander powder, and salt as per taste.
7- Cook the masalas for 1 min on a medium flame and add 100 ml water. Mix it once and cover with a lid for 6-7 mins and let it cook on a medium flame.
8- By now the gravy should release the oil , now please add the marinated chicken.
9- Cook the chicken on a high flame for 8 mins. After this cover with a lid and and lower the flame to low.
10- Let the chicken cook well and keep stirring in between.
11- Add Garam masala now and give a nice mix. Add 100 ml warm water to the gravy and cover it with a lid.
12- Let the chicken cook for at least 10 mins on a low flame. Please keep stirring gently in between.
13- Check if the chicken is coming off the bone easily, if not cook for some more time.
Tip – If the gravy is too runny, please cook the chicken on a high flame to reduce the water.
